Priest Gift Idea For Those Celebrating the Latin Mass

Hello everyone. Recently, a priest asked us to design a special accessory altar card for use in the celebration of the Roman Catholic Extraordinary Form Latin Mass. He explained to us that during certain times of the Mass, the priest must recite certain prayers while bowing, etc. Although the prayers are on the main Altar Cards, it is too awkward to try to read off of them at these times. Our priest friend envisoned a simple card to be laid flat on the altar right in front of him that contained just a few key prayers.

Well, I couldn't believe that I hadn't heard of this dilemma before now. But, it sure made sense to me. So, I went ahead and whipped up a nice little altar card for him as well as other priests who are bound to be encountering this problem. I only wish that I had known of this sooner.

Pictured on the left, we are calling this new companion altar card, "Supplices Prayer & Priest Prayers Before Communion." The name says what prayers are on it. The font is very nice and is a large 14 points. We put just a simple gold graphic on it so that it would go well with most altar settings.

For anyone considering a nice little useful gift for their priest, this card would be a good choice. Not as good a choice as season tickets to Ohio State Buckeye Football games probably, but a good choice.

Take care.

"Beckett" Extraordinary Form High Mass Altar Cards

Hello everyone. I hope your day is going well and you are enjoying this 2009 Christmas Season so far. We were recently asked to design a set of Roman Catholic Latin High Mass large print altar cards. So, we took to the design boards and whipped up this nice set of "Beckett" Extraordinary Form High Mass Altar Cards.

"Beckett," named after a font used in the design, features large, 14 point type on the center card, and, even larger 16 point type on the two side cards. The artwork is beautiful, the type is easy to read, and this set contains all of the prayers necessary to say High Mass. It can also be used to celebrate the Low Mass too.

Another unique feature of this set of High Mass altar cards, is that its layout is user-friendly for the celebrating priest. The "Placeat" prayer is located top right on the center card and is therefore not blocked from view by the chalice. The center card also contains the full text of the "Supplices" prayer, not commonly found on altar cards elsewhere. Ditto for the "Corpus tuum" prayer that we include on the Lavabo card.

We are thrilled to be able to supply our older priest customer with a great set of High Mass altar cards and hope that you like these too. If you have any special design needs, feel free to contact us any time at www.myriadcreativeconcepts.com/.

Altar Card Stands Now Available

Recently, a priest suggested that we try to find some sort of altar card stand or easel for our altar cards, especially the laminated travel versions. So, we set out on a research mission and found some excellent wire stands that are both versatile and durable. We received them today and tested them out. Wow. They work great and are well made, here in the U.S.A.

Each three wire altar card stand has a black coated plastic covering to protect the framed altar cards from being scratched. When the stand is unfolded to its full size, it measures 8.75 x 5.65 inches with a large, 1.5 inch lip to hold the laminated or framed card. The hinges are all metal so the stands should last a very long time. The stands fold up nicely and that makes them well suited for use while traveling because they will easily fit inside a briefcase with the laminated altar cards.

If you would like to see these altar card stands on our business website, click here. If you have any questions, feel free to email us any time.

Altar Cards Christmas Sale

Hello everyone. I hope everyone is winding down their work schedules and all set for tomorrow's Thanksgiving celebration. May your football team win big! - just so long as they aren't playing Ohio State. :)

Well, with Christmas fast approaching, I've decided to put two of our best altar card sets on sale at 20% off their regular prices. We've selected two Roman Catholic Latin travel sets: "Vintage Diamond" Travel Low Mass and "Silver Black" Travel for the Requiem Mass and grouped them together into one sale price of only $78.00.

These two sets are some of the best altar cards found anywhere. They each contain large, easy to read prayers, beautiful artwork, and the rarely found, "Supplices" and "Corpus tuum" prayers. Each card is laminated with a thick, 10mm film to ensure that they last for many years. They are so durable and practical that they have become the preferred cards of ours for priests deploying to Iraq and Afghanistan.

If you have any questions, or would like to place an order, just let us know. To view these online, click here.

In the meantime, I am off to the store to get some last minute stuff for Turkey Day. You know, the necessities like beer and pretzels for a full day of college football.

Go Buckeyes!!

11/25/2011 Update: We are having an Altar Cards Christmas Sale this year too. Please visit us online at our business website, Myriad Creative Concepts, for complete details.

Ordinary Form Altar Cards And Other Recently Released Works

Wow, it has been a busy month here at Myriad. A brand new Roman Catholic Ordinary Form Altar Card design, Offertory Secret Prayers, and a great-looking Latin Mass Requiem Altar Card have all been designed, proofed, and put on the market. Lots of people, ideas, feedback, ingenuity, and hard work have resulted in some great stuff for you priests out there in the "field." I'll try to describe here the new products and some of what went into the making of them.

First, let's tackle the big news: the release of an Altar Card for the Roman Catholic Ordinary Form. Not just a typeset piece, but an altar card that actually resembles traditional Extraordinary Form altar cards in look and feel. To pull this off, lots of drafts were made and reviewed by priests in the United States and England. Together, we have ourselves a winner here, a beautiful blend of old and new all on one card, the "Vintage Diamond" Ordinary Form Altar Card.

To accompany this new piece for the modern Mass, one of the priests suggested that we design an "Offertory Secret Prayers Card." So, after a bit of research and ideas from our consulting priests, we whipped one up, and it turned out pretty nice, if we can say so ourselves.

Next, we had an idea for brand new Extraordinary Form Requiem Altar Cards. "Silver Black" is a traditional-looking set of cards centered on Mantegna's Renaissance painting, "The Crucifixion." It features large, easy to read type, bold Gothic font introductory letters for easy reference, and the inclusion of the "Supplices" and "Corpus tuum" prayers - not found on most altar card sets. "Silver Black" is the culmination of everything that we have learned about altar card design to date combined with the input of our priest friends out there in the field. We think it's a great card and we hope you like it too.

For priests on the road, we designed a set of Travel Size Extraordinary Form Requiem Altar Cards and a set of Travel Size Low Mass Altar Cards. Actually, any of our sets can be downsized from the regular 12" size to a smaller, 10" height. But, we wanted to design sets specifically for travel use that have the largest type possible. The travel size versions of "Silver Black," mentioned above, and, "Vintage Diamond" Low Mass, feature easy to read type, including the "Supplices" and "Corpus tuum" prayers on handy laminated cards.

Lastly, in response to a phone query, we designed a set of small Extraordinary Form companion cards. Normally, these cards measure 8.5 x 11 inches. The new, special set measures only 5 x 7 inches but are still very legible. We call this new design, "Missal Size" Companion Cards because they fit perfectly in the back flap of a standard size Missal. The prayer cards include: "Vesting Prayers", "Prayers At The Foot Of The Altar", "Benediction", and "Prayers After Low Mass."

So, as you can see, it has been a very busy, productive month here at Myriad. We would like to express our gratitude to those priests and others who have been kind enough to share their knowledge and expertise and ideas in order for us to create these new works. Without your input, these projects would never have gotten off the ground. Thank you.

Thanks for stopping by. If there is anything we can do for you, just let us know.

A Time For Thanks

On this overcast Sunday morning, as I ponder my company, Myriad Creative Concepts, I have to pause and say thanks to everyone who has helped me, is helping me now in so many ways, and those that I haven't even met yet that will fill some need that I may not even know that I will have.

Without name dropping, let me just say thanks to all of you right now. You know who you are. I just hope that I have and will give you the words or the encouragement when you need it most as you have touched me.

From the immense Holy Spirit, my family, my friends, my suppliers, my customers, to everyone in between; I just have to say how thrilled I am at being a part of all of this. This is totally amazing that I actually have such a charmed life.

As a graphic designer, this business is a blast as I've brought new ideas and talents to bear. A priest will call or email me with a need and I will try my best to meet that need. As a businessman, it's really great to put my ethics to test and find the best ways to serve everyone involved. I love the fact that my customers think enough of my work to pay for it. And, I love ordering new supplies and materials from my vendors. Every time I make a business purchase, I know that I am helping someone keep their job in these trying times - and it feels great.

Recently, I've begun advertising, a whole new area of business to consider. To the people that are hosting my Myriad ads, I would like to extend a special thank you for doing so. I will do my utmost to serve your readers well.

Maybe I'm just feeling a bit sentimental this morning, but, sometimes, this all just kind of hits me and fills me with joy. May each and every one of you feel the joy of life every day. It's quite the ride we are on and it's never dull, is it?

God bless you all and Happy Sunday morning.
